Teddy
Tribute to Teddy
As I was in the early stages of developing our breeding program, I purchased a male from Ukraine. Unfortunately, that dog failed his health clearances, and as a result, the breeder sent me a replacement. His name was Wrigley. Wrigley was a big, incredibly sweet, and handsome boy who just happened to be the son of Teddy.
While researching Wrigley’s pedigree, I discovered that his sire, Teddy, had been sold to a breeder in Texas. I reached out to her, and over time, I made three trips to Texas to breed Emma and Lacey to Teddy.
We fell so deeply in love with Teddy and his puppies that I told the breeder if she ever decided to sell him, I hoped she would consider calling me first. Long story short, that day came—and we were fortunate enough to bring Teddy home.
On September 2, 2024, while unsupervised by a staff member, Teddy ingested a washcloth. After multiple surgeries and every effort to save him, Teddy passed away on September 6, 2024.
Teddy was a truly special soul. He controlled the pack through leadership, not strength. Every dog in our home—and every person he encountered—loved Teddy. He walked with pride and confidence, and his favorite place in the world was the veterinary clinic.
I remember the day Teddy passed very clearly. When I arrived at the vet to see him, I could immediately sense from the staff the somber tone that the news was not good. Everyone there knew Teddy’s time had come. In a place where loss is sadly common, many members of the veterinary staff shared tears that day. I know Dr. Tom went above and beyond, doing everything possible to save Teddy.
Teddy’s legacy lives on through the many wonderful families who continue to share photos and stories of his incredible children. We are incredibly fortunate to still have several of his daughters and a granddaughter in our breeding program. Teddy’s legacy is strong, enduring, and will never be forgotten.
Below are some of our favorite photos and videos of Teddy—memories we will cherish forever. 🐾
